Intensive Russian Attacks Cut Power Across Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were wounded while residents in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and dealt with disruption to drinking water, according to local authorities.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a distinct Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, based on information from area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "concrete actions" from allies to apply pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not window dressing but firm measures - from the America, Europe and the G7 - in supplying air defence systems and implementing restrictions," he wrote in a online statement.

He said that 450 drones and more than 30 projectiles struck energy facilities, labeling such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were laboring to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles damaged power facilities and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people injured in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, according to city authorities.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region came under intense attacks during nighttime hours. A young boy lost their life and three other people were wounded.

The strikes come after evenings of aerial attacks in the region, portions of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

All of Ukraine is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are tougher to identify.

Authorities told journalists that Moscow was deliberately attempting to damage the national power system, with attacks already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated utility staff and authorities were bracing for further attacks.
